I'm running Windows Vista Business Service Pack 1. I'm trying to connect to a remote network using Cisco VPN Client version 5.0.01.0600. I am able to authenticate and connect to the VPN, and recieve all IP settings via DHCP. After I'm connected to the VPN I try to ping the remote DNS server by name, it does resolve the name to the IP address but the request times out. I can NOT ping anything on the remote network not even the default gateway (firewall). The same setting works perfectly fine on a Windows XP Professional computer. I'm assuming that this is probably an issue with Vista Business, since it works fine on the XP computer. Windows Firewall and Defender are disabled on the Vista computer. I can't figure out why its not allowing traffic to get accross from the Vista to the remote network. VPN authentication is fine as I'm able to connect without problems. I'd appreciate some help. Let me know if you have any questions.
