Mouse Movement is sporadic and double mouse pointers running Full Screen XP Guest in VMWare ACE
Hello All,
I am running VMWare ACE Edition version 6.0.1 build 55017 with VMWare Tools version 7.2.8 build 55017 on a Windows XP SP2 Host. The host has 4GB of RAM and an Nvidia Quadro FX 2500 with 512M of Ram.
I have installed an XP SP2 guest with no problems or errors. The issue I am running into is when running the guest full screen from the VMWare toolbar, the mouse will sometimes display double cursors and/or will not travel to the edges of the screen, unless I move the cursor in the desired direction numerous times. It's kind of like forcing the cursor to move to the edge of the screen by "pushing" it [up, down, left, right] there a few times. It does eventually get there.
I am running a Microsoft Optical Trackball via a USB port. The trackball is working, but am having this issue and it is quite a bother.
Has anybody experienced this behavior and, if so, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mike

I have checked for updates and it tells me I have the most recent version. Yes, hardware acceleration is cranked to the max.
Thank you,

Thank you Steve, I will also give the VMWare forum a shot.
Yes, unfortunately, VMWare tools are installed and it is the most recent version. This is a real mind bender, because all appears normal. Hopefully, somebody will recognize the symptoms and I can put it to bed.
Your help is appreciated.
Best,
Mike

Hello dswatt,
I am running 32 bit XP and have given the guest 1GB or Ram.
I'm going to try reinstalling the VMWare tools. Based on yours and Steve's responses, it almost certainly seems it is a problem with the tools. Perhaps it did not configure properly, even though it says it's installed on the most recent version.
It's worth a shot.
Thanks,
Mike

Eureka! I reinstalled VMWare Tools and it seems to be working fine now. Not sure what would have caused the issue, but it seems all things pointed towards the tools being the culprit.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. It is greatly appreciated.

Have you enabled Hardware Acceleration in the VIdeo Card properties of the VM?
