Unable to move vmware 6 machine to another host.

I am unable to move a virtual machine to a new host.
I have a vmware machine running in vmware workstation 6 on an xp PC.
I want to move the machine to  a new server running vmware workstation 6 installed on a server 2003 box
I have shutdown the virtual machine and copied the VM directory to the new host but when I try and open the vm machine on the new host I get an error stating the machine appears to be in use so cannot be used.Start Free Trial
