Hello All,
To start with I have little experience of VMWare and it's products, so some of the questions below mat seem basic but it's what i can think of at the moment for initial thoughts.
I have been tasked with creating a solution for our geographically distributed offices to use thin-client technology for application access.
Background : we are in the process of merging companies & consolidating remote locations, one company has an existing Citrix environment, the other is fat-client. Both work well for each company but going forward there will be a single suite of applications.
There are a number of applications in use, such as, MS Office/Outlook, various in-house web based systems and locally installed applications.
Currenlty there is a combined asset base of approx 1000 client devices from Pc's to Wyse terminals, although this is likely to reduce in the future as consolidation proceeds.
Questions :
When activating the virtual desktop is user profile linked to AD or VM specific ?
Can different users get different desktops depending on AD login or VM login ?
Can VDesktop automatically create user specific mapped drives to various other servers ?
Can Vdesktop access applications alreeady installed on exisiting Citrix farm ?
Remote printing : configured in AD or VM per user ?
Bandwith utilisation per client ?
Suggested hardware/OS for server farm to support 1000 clients ?
