VMWARE HP ML110 G5 Network Card Not Suported
I have bought a new ML110 G5 for testing VMWARE 3.5 ESX

I tried to install the 30 eval it wont install because the network card is not supported. Should i try a different newtork card? Is there going to be another issue after i try this? Has anyone had any experience?? Should i send my server back?

Thanks

Craig

Even if you use a supported nic you still will have problems with your disk controller (even if you use SAS disks) as the SC40Ge isn't supported on ESX. As Steve just said; the hw support in ESX isn't as broad as on other well known OSes.

Guys that i realise but is there a way round this what NIC can i buy and put into it? I have spoken to both HP and Vmware about this issue and they said its not supported i am waiting for a guy form VMware to give me a solution and what will work with my system. I have spent £300 pounds on this box allready serversdirect assured me it would work and said they have companies using it. When i went back to them all they would say was its too late to complain and i can not have my money back (Great thanks). If i need to spend more money to get this system working with VMware esx 3.5 i want to make sure i get the right kit. Thanks for your help but i need a solution.

VMware, a software company founded in 1998, was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies. VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture. Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
