How can I share multiple host based volumes in the guest (as separate volumes)

Hello folks,

I have found a bug(?) in using VMWare's shared folder feature. Actually I hope I am wrong because I really need this feature!

It seems that VMWare's shared folder feature treats multiple host volumes as one single volume in separate folders.

Allow me to illustrate:
Host volume d: (150gb free) connected as a VMShare (Host_D)
Host volume f: (15gb free) connected as a VMShare (FW_Backup_R)

These shared volumes will show up in the Guest as:
Entire Network
VMware Shared Folders
    .host
         Shared Folders
             Host_D
             FW_Backup_R

In this configuration, VMWare is treating two separate volumes as one 'physical' drive. I cannot map each of these volumes separate as they should be. Worse, the combined share also causes VMWare to display a relative volume size that is from the drive with the smallest volume size (15gb in this example).

Making matters worse, in this combined volume configuration, I have encountered a common, repeatable and terrible annoying problem when moving files. Whenever I move a group of files anywhere else, I will always see the following error message, "Error Moving File or Folder".... "Cannot move .....: Access is denied.... Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." I do not have a problem if I choose to move only one file at a time. And any file that causes this error can also be moved if done individually. In other words, this error occurs on any file and it is only temporary and only occurs when many files are moved together.

I know this file moving problem is solved if I am only sharing a single host volume so I understand what is causing the error.

What I would like to know is how can I share more than one host volume with the guest VM OS but treat them all as individual volumes; just as they should be treated?

FYI:
Host: Vista 64 SP1 (6gb memory)
Guest: Windows XP (2.5gb allocated)
VMWare version: 6.02

Thank you,
