Had a quick look - that requires a UPS Network Management Card doesn't it?

Browse All TopicsHi,
I have just installed ESX 3.5 Server and Win2008 virtuals - I am now trying to get my previous programs to work. I got ServeRAID manager going and talking to the host but am having soem trouble with my UPS. I installed the APC Agent on the host and configured it (although I wasn't sure which serioal port to pick - never used linux before - so I picked the first one. ALso I wasn't sure what username and password it was expecting. Anyway, I install PowerShute on one of the virtuals and try to connect to the host but no luck. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
Stewart.

You have to be carefull in installing powerchute since it will shutdown the ESX Server but will not shotdown the virtual machines. I haven't checked in a while but last time I checked I didn't see a version of Powerchute compatible with 3.5. What we have been using is Network shutdown with UPS and installing agent on virtual machines then letting the ESX server die on its own.
The last time I checked was a few months back, perhaps APC has upgraded the software by now.
