Problem with VMWare Fusion when migrating from old Mac to new Mac

When I start VMware Fusion and try running the virtual machine I get the following Error Message:

Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.

Sounds like VMware Fusion is not installed properly. Could you try reinstalling it? At the same time you could also check that you're using the latest version of fusion (2.0.5).

I just updated to the newest version of vmware fusion, cannot resume existing windows 7 virtual machine.  I get these messages....

Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.
Failed to initialize monitor device.
Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to

I have been searching and searching for answers, I am a novice so some step by step help would be great

Did you reboot after installing the new Fusion version?

vmm is the kernel driver that handles the cpu execution of the virtual machine.

Tried reinstalling this latest fusion version?
