Vmware and Network drivers

Hello,
I am not sure if I have a question specifically or just want to complain. I have now setup quite a few Windows 2003 Server images on my vmware server 2.0 computer. Vmware is installed on a Windows 2008 Server machine with a very nice ASUS motherboard that supports up to 24Gb of Ram. Anyway, I just upgraded my 2003 Server images to Service pack 2 and now NONE of my network card drivers work. Each vmware image says there is something wrong with the driver. What the heck is up with that? I cannot install the driver for my network card because when I try to do that it says it doesn't support my operating system. My motherboard is too new.

Does anyone have an idea how to get my network card working again? Am I going to have to just get a very old network card so that anything will run it? What about if I want to just run a virtual netword card? Can I do this somehow so that I don't have to go out and buy a new legacy network card?

Well, I am out of here for now. I have wasted too many hours on this today. I would appreciate a new opinion.

These 2003 servers you are talking about are virtual machines?
Have you installed VMWare tools inside these machines?

You do not need to install the drivers for the network card into these OSs as it will use a virtual driver. Also, If it is 2008 you are having trouble with, for the driver then that's something you will need to speak to the manufacturer of the motherboard. Do ASUS do server motherboards now?

Yes, they are all virtual machines. I have not installed the tools inside of those machines. Can you tell me more about this?

The Windows 2008 Server is running file but thanks for the suggestion. It's just these vmware images that are having problems.

Ok. This should solve your problem.

With these machines, they will use what is called a virtual network card. VMWare tools install should set these NICs up without issue. Have a good night.

Perfect Answer! The vmware tools solved my issues and now I can use old images I almost discarded.

What do you mean by this "each vmware image says there is something wrong with the driver"
