don't forget to uninstall vendor specific software such as Dell or HP. It will free up about 200-400MB RAM and system will run much better

Browse All TopicsI built a new VM and used Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 "Recover Anywhere" to restore a 2003 x64 machine (the physical machine being imaged is a Dell PE2850 with a pair of dual-core CPU's and 16GB RAM).
I'm using vSphere 4.0 on a Dell PE R710. I gave the virtual machine 4 virtual CPU's and 8GB of RAM.
When I attempt to boot the VM in normal mode, it hangs at the splash screen. Safe mode hangs showing acpitabl.dat. I've seen a few suggestions to reboot to a Win CD (or ISO) and replace update.sys....any other suggestions on how to fix this, or how to do the BESR restore in such a way as to avoid the problem?

Well, it seems I fixed it. In Options for the VM, it was set to Windows 32-bit. I set it to Windows 2003 x64 and...voila!
