That did work... Question, does the VDR support the use of windows shares? Could I provice the IP/share of a windows host in the destination?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsJust installed my 1st VDR ver 1.0.2.562 into VMWare Essentials Plus. I followed the guide step by step and am at the point where I add a destination, then create a new backup task and select the destination.
For a destination, I wanted to use a NFS share that is available. It is used by other devices as a backup target (i.e. rsync target) and I also have it mounted to a Host os. I know its up and writeable. So I add it in using \\<ipaddress>\share along with an admin account from the windows domain in the "Add Destination" section.
Now I go to create a new backup job, but as I click the destination I just created while seting up the backup job, I get a "This destination is not available for a backup job. Please ensure that the destination has been formatted and has sufficient free space."
The share reports 1.4 tera free out of 2 TB total space. and the host has it mounted as a datastore and is writeable.
The logs and manuals don't provide much help. I've opened a case with VMWare but my call back window isn't until next week. So I'm posting here for any tips or assistance.
Thanks

Add the NFS as datastore in ESX then hot add additional virtual disk on that datastore for the VDR appliance
You cant mount NFS store in VDR directly
