Hi
This type of error it means lot of things.
First: What converter are you using? VMware Converter?
Are you installed the Converter Agent from the Converter? Or did you install in the server manually? Try install the agent manually in the machine that will be converted.
Are trying to convert a Windows 7 to a VM?

You cant just import directly you need to use vmware converter to clone your PC to a VM

Hi
I never tried(yet) convert a Windows 7 to VM with the VMware Converter. I do not know if we have the same problems that we have with the Windows 2008 in the beginning(before new version of VMware Converter)
I have check the VMware and see no new features for Windows 7, so maybe this Windows version is not yet supported.
But give it a try. But try to do it manually.
Try follow this:
First Download the VMware Converter Standalone version
https://www.vmware.com/try
1. Install VMware Converter locally or in other server
2. Install Vmware Converter agent on the machine(locally and manually).
3. Reboot the machine.
4. Check if Vmware Converter Agent Service is running.
5. Check your disck espace you need at least 200Mb of space available on the Volume being cloned.
6. Make sure the Workstation, Server, Netbios and VSS (Volume Shadow Copy ? XP default service) Services are running on the machine.
7. Restart the VMWare Converter Service on the VMware Converter Manager server.
8. Try conversion.
Hope this can help you
