It says:

This is a lab setup I have and I used a VM for vcenter since I didn't have another system.
Thanks

Browse All TopicsI have a standalove ESX4i server. The Vcenter system is a VM on that ESX server, so I cannot update the esx using the vcenter, since I have to shut down the vm before patching.
So I tried using the Vsphere host update utility. But after I scan for patches and download them. I get an error when it tries to update usign the zip file it downloaded.
What am i doing wrong?

Ok, I read that post. Sounds like that could be my problem. But I was looking to use, or can i use the RCLI to preform these steps. I installed CLI, but not sure if that will work. I guess the RCLI is the remote version of CLI.
Will either of them allow me to preform these steps? If so, were can I download RCLI from?
Thanks
I just came across this blog post today and remembered your question.

I cannot read the error that is in the screenshot. Can you add in a message
PS: Using a VM to hold VCenter is not a good idea. You will find many issues
