Browse All TopicsWe had just evaluated VMWare ESXi 3.5 software. We created a few virtual servers in its small 80GB hard disk. Now that we have decided to use it, we want the server to use a bigger 1TB hard disk. How can you move the virtual servers that we created. Is it thru an import /export appliance feature? Can the experts give me a resource or documentation on how to move the content and maybe setting up the new hard disk. Thank you.

When moving between data stores, the VM files should move from the local storage via the PCI buss to the SAN/NAS or other large capacity storage. Once the VM files have moved then they should be able to be powered on.

Once the 1 TB disk is presented to the ESXi server should be able to shut down the VM and migrate them to the 1 TB storage.
