Cannot Connect windows server 2008 R2 NFS with vmware vsphere 4.0

First troubleshooting tip

can you ping the NFS server from the console of the ESX server using vmkping?

Can you upload a screen shot of your NFS share and configuration on the Windows 2008 R2 server.

did you follow that article, because it's not necessary in Windows 2008 R2!

You do not need to use User Mapping

do you have the firewall enabled in the WIndows 2008 R2 server?

What version of vSphere 4.0, ESX or ESXi?

Yeah i just found out that they ve taken out user mapping in windows 2008 R2. Hmm i think the firewall is still enabled. Let me try and turn that off. Btw, I am using vsphere 4.0 esx.

I have turned off the firewall on windows 2008 but the same error still popped.

You don't need to use user mapping.

Sorry, I must have missed these screenshots, I was going to re-visit this question this evening.

I'm just in the lab now to check this setup.

Okay, I've checked this, and had it working in 60 seconds.

The issue here is as follows:-

1. Un-tick Kereros v5 integegrity and authentication.
2. Un-tick Kerberos v5 authentication.
3. Tick No Server authentication.
4. Tick Enable unmapped user access.
5. Tick Allow unmapped user Unix access.

Creating an NFS Server using Windows 2008 R2 for VMware vSphere ESX/ESXi 4.1

I did what u asked. when i try to add storage to esx server on virtual center it gave me this error:
'error during the configuration of the host. unable to get console path for mount'
When i try to connect it manually from command console using this command: mount Ip address:/ISO /mnt
it gave me this error 'mount.nfs: operation not permitted'

These are the error before i made changes. on virtual center: "error during the configuration of the hosts: NFS error: unable to mount the filesystem: unable to query remote mount point's attribute"
on command console: 'mount.nfs: permission denied.

The weird thing is i got it working yesterday. i have connected the sahred folder as datastore, but after i remove the datastore and  deleted the shared folder and create another shared folder it wouldn't let me.

i am out of ideas. pls help :)

Well, that video is how I've configured Windows 2008 R2 for vSphere many times and it works with no issue.

I've got another video here, of Connecting vSphere 4.0 to the NFS Server.

This shows how to connect to the NFS datastore, I would start again, and watch the videos step by step. If it still doesn't work, it's network, firewall, VMKernel interface. Watch the sharename it must be exact, and case sensitive. Don't use User Mapping, it's not required as you can see from my demonstrations, if I was allowed to Remote Control and WebEx I would set this up, as per the videos, but not allowed under EE rules, so this is the best I can do to supply you with videos of how to setup it up.

Check sharenames/export names and VMKernel interface is on the correct LAN, vSwitch.

So i dont need to install the identity management for unix and creating unix user group?
and also do i need to install active directory on the server or just join the server to domain?

is there any setting on the esx server that i need to know? i have start the portmap and nfs service on my setup.
