vcenter linked mode
Hi All,
I am in need of setting up Vcenter linked mode. Someone has mentioned that this set up requires Vsphere enterprise license. Could someone advise that if this is true?
Thanks

I don't believe that is true. It's a vCenter feature.

I think you need at least vCenter Server Standard to support it...
I can attest that vSphere 4.1 Foundation VC will not link with VC Standard
What version of vCenter and vSphere are you running?
btw, there are only 2 choices for vCenter server...foundation and standard http://store.vmware.com/store/vmware/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.126844900
Yes, if purchased seperately, but I am pretty sure that the Essentials kits are packaged with their own stripped down version (to accomodate the three host maximum)
the license key is what turns on or off different features. I have an essentials installation at another site and I got an error when trying to link it with my production VC. it said something about not supported for linking essentials with standard VC.

IC, so the vsphere license don't matter, it is vcenter version matters..right?
Thanks
Thanks
No, its the licensing that matters. The vCenter with essentials features is only packaged with an essentials kit, same with foundation. vCenter standard is only available with the other edititions.
