Removing Host from Vcenter if Vcenter server is gone
We have 2 hosts no shared storage. We installed Vcenter on an older physical box. That server died. We have not replaced it with another vcenter server yet. When we go to edit the disk of one of the VM's it says its managed by vcenter server at 192.X.X.X so we cannot make changes.
Is there a flag somewhere that tells ESXi this is a Vcenter managed host? Can we undo that flag? Or should we set up a new vcenter server and take over managing it, would that resolve our issue?
ESXi 5.0 vshpere essentials
Thanks

Not sure about a flag but there is no problem in taking over management with a new vCenter server.
