HP Proliant ML350Gen8 and Vmware 5.0 Update 1 crashes

We just got new HP Proliant ML350Gen8 server for some tests. We tried to install normal Vmware ESXi 5.0 update 1. Didn't install cause could not find network adapters. We downloaded new Custom image from HP, it installed okay.
However now when using vsphere client it will freeze almost immediatly when connected to new Gen8 server.
We get different errors from client.
Example when trying to create datastore we get following error
Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "192.168.123.57" failed.
Any ideas?

is the RAID still initializing?

when it freezes, how does it recover?

Raid is still initializing
When it freezes and gives some error, it will recover when we connect the client again to the server.
First off I would ensure that you update all the ROMs (BIOS and adapters etc) to the latest versions available from HP.

In that specific error, this might be of some relevance (you don't say if you're using local datastores or not but I am guessing you are. Did the server have any kind of OS preinstalled?):

I am using local datastore and the server didn't have any OS preinstalled
Well a RAID rebuild would most likely have blown all that away anyway :)
I would wait until the RAID has completed initialisation.

I've seen weird issues, trying to create datastores, when the RAID has not completed.

Not realted but just noticed the ACUCLI is built in, no need to shutdown and run from SmartStart to change disk parameters :)
Raid has completed but same issues, I am just downloading the newest firmware dvd from HP and try that next.
Lot's of different errors on the esxi log
Warning UserObj: 675: Failed to Crossdup FD 1
CPU10: 3065 Warning UserObj: 3232: Unimplemented Operation on 0x4100303274b0
etc
when you download the HP or VMWare ISOs please verify MD5 hash to make sure you're getting a good download.

If you're burning a CD to install try installing via ILO (you can put a 60 day trial license key in if you don't have advanced ilo)
Bios and firmware update didn't help. I will try and install ESXi again
Is this server on the HCL, if so get it escalted to HP and VMware Support!
As Paul said - I would re-download it and check the MD5 hash
its listed on the HCL if you have the ML350p Gen8 version
Yes, brand new ML350 Gen8

Are you installing to a good quality USB or SD card?

2GB and no larger?
2GB SD and USB, same that we have used last three years
I'd be raising a call, like Hanccocka suggested earlier.

This isn't normal behaviour.
I'd expect if you log it with HP the first thing they'll say is to buy their SD card (http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product.asp?sku=10196917) rather than use the ones you've always used in the past.
Workaround, not solution
