ZFS Solaris, fix ip
Hi,
I'm not able to set a static ip on Solaris 11 vm (ZFS). I remembered last time there was an icon to change it and everything worked fine, now the icon isn't there.
I can go via administration but then in a submenu somewhere it tells me to do it commandline ... I'm trying to avoid command line as much as possible.
Please advise howto configure ip address of Solaris the fastest way/via gui(?)

If you're using the Solaris 11 desktop, you can use the Network Preferences application (which can be found into the System/Administration menu) to quickly build NCPs and Location profiles.

Saw something in that menu, correct, but most things are greyed out.
No idea what these things mean btw, I'm a windows guy :-), please advise howto configure that.

In a previous screenshot, I saw the icon, click it, it looks green like a network socket.

It's a GUI, it's quite straight forward to fill in the blanks, or I've got command line functions for you would rather them.

I don't see any wizard, tried to change settings but doesn't help me at all.
change ip-settings locally on your server with url http://localhost:81
if you have installed Napp-It.
otherwise console.

Duh? I can t set a fix ip address, napp-it I can install but need a fix ip address first.

There is no wrong way to install vmware tools, right?
I didn't follow your procedure (couldn't see movie). When I do shutdown of machine it doesn't do anything, vm just doesn't respond on shutdown via menu in vcenter ... it does via console, then shutdown. Then again it takes a really long time, black screen on vm but it stays on, seems vm is still running but ping isn't there anymore.
