Asked by DReade83 in Virtualization, VMware, XenServer
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 currently running Small Business Server 2003 R2 with the following hardware spec:
1x Intel Xeon 2.5GHz
16GB DDR2 RAM
3x Samsung 128GB SSD Hard Drives (running in RAID 5 mode)
I would like to install Small Business Server 2008, but at the same time I want to consolidate loads of smaller machines we're using on to the same server as VMs to save money, but I'm stuck over which VM solution would be best for our needs.
Ideally I want something that requires minimal effort and maintenance, but at the same time it has to be a free solution, which leaves me with ESXi and XenServer.
Can anyone recommend any solutions to me that would best suit my requirements? SBS 2008 (x64) needs to run as a VM as do the other machines (a mix of CentOS 5.3 and XP Pro SP3).
Thanks in advance.
