I'd like to use a bluetooth device that is interchangeable with my cell phone and my desktop/laptop. The headset would be used for voice dictation. What is the best hardware/software combination that would fit the above scenario.

It's useful to learn which microphones are useful for Voice Dictation. Most bluetooth microphone information usually only discusses cell phone use. This question should be closed but not deleted. We would also be interested in learning how the Plantronics Voyager 520 works for Voice Recognition. Especially because the Plantronics Voyager series (510) was on the list of microphones that was recommended. 520 is the later model of the 510.

I have had great results with Nokia BH-900. It can find both my latop and my phone pretty easily. It connects to whichever one it reaches first.

As long as the Bluetooth microphone has a boom , you can get good speech recognition results. Nuance has a list of compatible wireless devices at the following link http://support.nuance.com/
For a phone, I used Sprint Mogul 6800 which is a Windows Mobile 6 device and hardware and IBM thinkpad (T60p) w/2GB Ram. The more RAM and Processor power, the better for voice dictation
I also use Microsoft Voice command for limited speech recognition (call wife, play this song, etc) on my Sprint Mogul.
Hope this helps.
