My Dragon NaturallySpeaking software is totally erratic. Sometimes its great (fast response and accurate) and other times its practically unresponsive or gives results nowhere near what I said. For ex, tonight working great, went to eat dinner, came back and terrible (so nothing had changed on the comp). Sometimes restarting program helps, other times not. Most of the time when reboot, its ok at first (but not always) but then goes downhill. Suspect its conflicting w something but tried it with each program specifically but no consistent results. Hardware is fine (mic, etc.).

I do run a lot of programs all the time but I've got 4MB+ of memory so I can't imagine that's a problem. Once in a while the Processes tab in the TM will show DNS stuck around 40-50% of CPU usage in which case DNS will stop responding altogether. However, most of the time when I have the above problems, CPU usage is <5%.
I mentioned that my hardware is fine. However, I am basing that on the fact that 1) my mic has an earpiece and I can hear myself just fine, 2) I have a Vonage account and have never had a problem with someone saying they can't hear me, and 3) most of the time when DNS is not working (like right now), it will respond with something when I talk (indicating that my voice is getting through) but most of what it types bears no resemblence to what I say. That is in stark contrast to earlier this afternoon when the response was almost instantaneous and there were almost no errors. So my question is whether or not, in light of those three things, could there still be some type of problem with my hardware?
Hi Steve, Interesting problem. What version of Dragon are you using and what OS are you using.
1. What version of Dragon are you using e.g. Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 10?
2. What Operating System are you using?
3. Are the user files you are using upgraded from a previous version of Dragon?

have u checked your memory usage? what is the task manager saying during these bad times?
