The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. WSUS 3.0 Error 12012. The API Remoting Web Service is not working.

Hi Guys,

I have installed WSUS 3.0 on a Windows Server 2003 SBS but I am unable to connect to the administration MSC*.

I have the follow error in System Logs > Application.

The API Remoting Web Service is not working.

I have used wsusutil checkhealth to make sure there are no other problems and this appears to be the only error I have.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both version of the ASP .Net frame work (1.1 & 2.0) with no fix.

I started to follow the Microsoft Help & Support document regarding this error message, but when I was asked to compare 3 vbs files, Microsoft only listed partial parts of these files, making it impossible for me to tell if the vbs files are correct.

I have, however, checked the cacls on the <WSUSInstallDir>\WebServices\ApiRemoting30 and can confirm these ACEs are correct.

I have reinstalled WSUS 3.0, but still no luck!
