Not enough server storage space available to process this command

Asked by NewAS in Backup Exec, Windows 2003 Server

Tags: , , , ,

I am experiencing a massive issue with our Microsoft Windows 20003 Standard Edition server. It first started with our Veritas 10.0 Software, with error messages like:

AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\SERVERNAME\Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider reports "Out of memory".

I seeked a patch from Microsoft, WindowsServer2003-KB887827-v3-x86-enu which was supposed to address this issue, but would not install.

Since this issue we are getting the following error when trying to simply map drives to or carry out simple tasks on the server:

Not enough server storage space available to process this command.

I have tried modifying the registry with the following:

Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management and set PagedPoolSize to 0

Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and set IPStackSize to 11

Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and clear non essential entried from NullSessionPipes, trouble with this is I don't know which ones I can remove, the entries are as follows:

COMNAP
COMNODE
SQL\QUERY
SPOOLSS
netlogon
lsarpc
samr
browser

Additional to this I have noticed that I am getting the error "Not enough server storage space available to process this command" across all servers when trying to simply attach to a shared folder on a PC which is part of the same domain.

I have tried rebooting all servers and all latest microsoft updates have been applied across all servers.

All our servers are Windows 2003, we have 2 x Standard Edition and Standard Edition R2.

Any help with this woud be much appreciated.
