Thanks honmapog, that was the problem. Can you tell me if I'll need to send remote agents to all servers again or if I just need to send them to the Exchange ones?

Browse All TopicsI recently implemented Exchange 2007 in our domain and still currently coexist with Exchange 2000. I'm curently having a problem trying to get Symantec's backup Exex software to see my Exchange 2007 information store.
I try to setup a new backup job using the wizard and get to the point where I have to drill down to select what servers to backup. We currently have an Exchange 2007 mailbox cluster with only that role on the servers. I'm able to drill down to the Mailbox cluster but there is no entry for the information store in it. I can see an ExchangeOAB share, a Resources share, and an Address share with 4 other hexidecimal share names it says I don't have access to.
I'm guessing that maybe one of the hexidecimal shares is the information store but I can't figure out why I can't access it. Permissions should be correct for the backup account as well as my own, the Exchange tools were installed on the backup server, and the remote agent was installed on the Mailbox cluster.

I have the exact same issue with the SQL and MOSS 2007 agents. I have re-sent them to the remote servers multiple times, with no effect. Any other suggestions? Symantec support engineer actually argued with me saying that MOSS 2007 wasn't supported yet. I now have ZERO confidence in their ability to help.

Two things to check.
1. Make sure you are on build 7170 of Backup Exec 11d. Only this build supports E2K7.
2. Do you have the Backup Exec Remote Agent (11d Build 7170) installed on all nodes of the cluster?
If you're only seeing shares, it would suggest Backup Exec is not actually talking to a Backup Exec Remote Agent. Do you see the disk resource Exchange is installed onto (e.g. G: or X: or ...). If not, you most certainly facing a Remote Agent problem.
