Backup Exec. SMTP configuration for Email Notification
Guys, I have tried all sorts of variations and combinations with the SMTP configuration screen for email notification but I am not receiving any emails when I click on Test in the recipient screen. There are 3 fields that are concerned here. The SMTP Server name, the Sender name and the Sender email address. Seems straightforward enough. So, unless there's something else going on. I don't know. I have trawled previous questions of a similar nature but they don't seem to specifically address my particular problem.

Sorry. I can see how to check for relaying. This is a single SBS 2003 server with Exchange and Backup Exec. all running on the 1 machine.

I can Telnet into the SMTP server no problem. Relaying is allowed. In SMTP Notification Parameters I have entered the full DNS name of the server. The port is 25 and the Default Sender is administrator@crinklemerch ants.local . It still doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

There are a couple of questions not answered. I wanted specific information as to how to setup SMTP configuration. I have tried various combinations but it still doesn't work. Oh well, Experts Exchange is good but not perfect. Thanks anyway.
This is an old post, but I wanted you to know that it had the right answer. I've worked with Symantec for a few months trying to get the software to email me alerts. They originally told me I had to upgrade and I did that, but it still wouldn't work. Based on the 2nd post, my problem was immediately resolved. No where did I see where you had to include the server name - the screens shows you enter smtp.domain.com!! So I just wanted to say thank you! I always find the best info on Experts-Exchange and this is another example!!!
