how do you backup an external harddrive using backup exec 11d?

i have backup exec 11d installed on a server running 2003 small business server.  i have added an external network harddrive (hp media vault 1tb) and would like to backup any data that is stored in it.  on backup exec i have the license for remote agent for windows, small business and netware servers.  each time i try to add the media vault via the remote agent install i get prompted for a username and password when i enter it i get the following error


attempting to connect to server \\hpmediavault failed with the following error: The accoutn name and/or password supplied is not vaild.  Please reenter the login information and try again.
