Why my Exchange Backup is so slow

Hi Experts,
  I am running Exchange 2003 With SP2 .I have 90 GB store data and have 60 GB data on C drive database is on seprate hard drive E.I am using Veritas Backup Exec 10.0 with exchange client , my backup takes about 70 hours to cmplete and ended with faild.The job rate vary from 50 MBS to 152MBS.
Further I am backing up C drive E drive and Mailboxes the total size of backup is around 240 Gb I am using LTO2   drive which is directly hookup with Exchange by Scsi card. I am using full backup every night but is not completing so you can say my backup is running round the clock. Any idea how can i fix this problem.
