Thank you for your response. The article that you noted had other notes attached. We used
article 284320 which pertains to the Linux Remote Agent Ralus.

We originally had the firewall port 10000 open but not a secondary port range for data communication.
We first opened all internal communication and ran the backup. This was successful. We reviewed the log and found the port that was used for the data communication. We opened ten ports on the Linux box including this port and 9 others. We also disabled the opening of the all internal communications.  The backup failed. We then opened all communication from the Backup Exec media server and the backup was successful. We would prefer to be able to open 10 ports for communication rather than opening all communication from the media server. This is supposed to work, but we were unable to make it work. Do you have any other suggestions?
