Question

Backup Exec Web monitoring

Asked by: TacoFlavoredKisses

We have Backup Exec 12.5 and are looking for a way to get some type of remote web monitoring.

We have jobs that will hang from time to time over the weekend, and it would be very useful if we could see that without actually having to go all the way into the system.

We have reporting now, but there are many jobs so it is hard to tell from emails what has and has not been done yet.  There are also ones that take over a day to run, so seeing the progress along the way would also be very helpful.

I am not sure if there is a product for this already.  I saw something about Symantec having a solution for this, but could not find any additional information.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, we were looking for more of a web thing, as we are typically out and about over the weekend.  This way we could use a public computer or phone to see what was happening.

It would be great also if there was any way to get an alert that a job was missed, but apparently there is not.

web console http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/253932.htm (I know it's for v9 & v10 but I assume latest versions also support it)

Hmm, looks like they removed it in version 11d.  Very disappointing.  Anyone else have any ideas?
