This is not a BackupExec limit. There is a 259 character limit on Microsoft paths. This is true even if you are trying to just access a document further down, not back it up with other software.

Some of the path names are very long (over 100 characters).
Can someone tell me or point me to documentation that tells what the maximum
number of characters is that a file's path can have?
Also, wouldn't the Backup Job post a message if it encountered a path that exceeded
the limit?

I know of no limitation in path length for the windows agent. antec.com/ docs/30791 0.htm that specifies a path length of 256 is the maximum.
