Backup Exec SBS as a remote agent to Backup Exec Standard

I currently have Backup Exec SBS premium 12.5,  A linux agent, additional windows agent.

I would like to know if I purchased a standard backup exec for windows server license if from that server I can then use the SBS version as a remote agent.  IE I backup the SBS server remotely from a standard 2003 server and still be able to use the AD,Exchange,SQlserver agents coupled with the SBS install?

If so I assume I would need to shutdown some components of the sbs install as the media server?

You may not need to (stop or shut down components) as the services will not conflict over the network.  With that said, your best option is the download the free trial from symantec and test it out.  It is a free, fully functional 60 day trial.

Sure I understand that the might not neccessarily conflict but of the 8 or so services some of them are specific to the agent I would think?

I happen to be doing just that downloading the trial.  What is the Infrastructure manger and Continouis Data Protection server?  Completely seperate products?

How symantec uses the work "continous data Protection is with each of its BE services or Agents.  Such as with SQL agent and Exchange, that is have a continuous data protection elements.  Do you have the link.

You are correct the that each agent has a service(s) that would be running on the server.  However, if you install have BE (for Small business) on another server the agent on that server will not confiict with the service or agents running on a differnt server.  The agent acts as a tool to allow BE to backup that component..
