Can't restore an image

Zone: Norton Ghost Backup Software

I'm running Vista and have an external eSATA drive to which I did an image backup. I am unable to restore the image using the Recovery CD. After selecting the image to restore, it pauses for a few minutes and then gives me this error:

"The instruction at 0x00yyyyy referenced memory at 0x00zzzzz. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."

Clicking OK takes me back to the main menu. While this error pops up, I can see behind it the properties of my backup image, which all seem correct.

I have validated my recovery disk, which found some missing drivers (although they really weren't related to my backup/restore functionality) so I created a custom recovery disk which loaded the missing drivers. I've tried both the standard and the custom recovery disk, with the same results.

I have two 1 Gb RAM chips so I removed one and re-tried with the same error. I repeated this test with the other RAM chip but still get the error.

Above suggestions were based on my discussion with Symantec tech support. Any other ideas?
