Browse All TopicsHello Guys,
I am trying to load one .GHO file frrom the server to the client and it gives me a bizarre problem. It starts loading the image and at the half of the loading, it shows me error.
The nature of the error on both ( client and Server side) is different :
On the client side it says that D:\ Public001.GHS could nto be opened and on the server side it says that A:\Ghosterr.TXT could nto open. My question is that why client and server both are reffering to different files and whatever they mean by that why are they not able to open it considering the fact that it worked fine yesterday.
Secondly, the file which I am loading from the server is .GHO file NOT a GHS file so I am nto able to fidn any reason why it needs that .GHS file and why is it not able to locate it?
Can anybody help me with this?

Q. why client and server both are reffering to different files
A. The Ghost "client" reports the actual problem, while Ghostcast Server report it's not able to record the error to the A:\Ghosterr.TXT file on the client side. Could you clarify what is your Ghost bootup media? Depending on the different types of media it is not possible to write to this file.
Q. why are they not able to open it considering the fact that it worked fine yesterday.
A. Retry the process (restart ghost cast server, reboot the client) - it might be a glitch and on the following attemp the imaging will be working fine. Otherwise, it might be something has changed since yesterday - a bit different parameters were set for imaging on ghostcast, the spanned images are opened or got corrupted.
Q. why it needs that .GHS file and why is it not able to locate it
A. GHS file is a part of the image file. By default, when you taking the image it is being spanned within 2GB files, where the first one has .GHO extension the remaining files have .GHS extension. When you reimaging the computer you point out Ghost cast to pickup the first part of the image (.GHO file) and then it should pick up "on the fly" the remaining parts. Apparently Ghostcast fails to do it. It might be a glitch so restarting GhostCast would fixed it. Or .GHS files are not present any more, are locked by another process or corrupted. If GhostCast restart would not solved the problem, try to reboot the server it runs on.
For the future, in the case your image files are located on the server and you are using GhostCast for taking / deployment of the images, I can recommend you to use this parameter while taking image: -split=0 (it will ensure that image is taken as a single file).
Hope it helps
