Getting data off bad HD

Asked by stevem5000 in Backup & Restore Software, Computer Hard Drives, Power Supplies / UPS

Tags: data, bad, off, drive, getting

Power supply went out and damaged the HD...
I have another computer with a PCI IDE card that I mount HD's to that I work on, pulling data off etc...
When I mount this HD(as a master), the OS on the 2ed computer will recognize the drive, but I cannot open it to pull data off...
I tried mounting it on a 3rd  computer as a slave on the master IDE, again I cannot open it...

Short of getting another exact matching HD and swapping the platters in it...are there any other
options that I might try to get the data off...

Maxtor Diamondmax +  60gb  133 ATA...
On both computers I attached it to, the drive spins up, it iis recognized, but I cannot access it...

thoughts, ideas???

Thanx
Steve
