The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Backup Operation Cancelled.
One of things i noticed is that when I put Friday tape for example from backup rotation,  Brightsore as itself recognizes as Monday tape and at the of backuping he seeks one day ahead tape. I've checked the tapes and it appears they are ok because when I put the tape into the backup drive it recognizes it as the day as it should be, under the G drive as hardware, but the software Brightstore recognizes as one day ahead.

Incomplete just means one or more files were missed.

Please explain what you mean by "i put the tape into the backup drive it recognizes it as the day as it should be, under the G drive as hardware,"? G drive as hardware???

With the tape in the drive go to the ARCserve Device Manager window and select the drive. Then what does it give for a tape name?

When i open My computer (Devices with removable Storage) it recognizes wright tape with correct day from tape rotation, but in ARCserve under drive it emerges as one day ahead, instead of, for example monday it comes up as tuesday and etc.

The Removable Storage service is going to conflict with ARCserve. When using ARCserve with a tape device connected via SCSI the tape drives and media changer (if used) should always be disabled from within the OS Device Manager. Is ARCserve using the wrong tapes for backups?

No, the tapes from within backup rotation are good, the only issue i have is ARCserve, it wouldn't read tapes as it should be.

What backup rotation? The backup rotation should be controlled totally by ARCserve, Windows should have nothing to do with those tapes.

Again the Removable Storage service should be disabled and the tape drive and library should be disabled form within the OS Device Manager or else there will be conflicts.

With a tape in the drive go to the ARCserve Device window, select the tape and on the right side under Details what does it show for tape name?

Under details it shows one day ahead, instead of showing wednesday it shows thursday and onwards.

OK so the Monday tape is in the second slot, it really does not matter.

If you don't like the slots ARCserve is putting the tapes in you can always change it so each tape is in the slot you want, but it really does not matter what slot a tape is in because ARCserve will automatically pull the needed tape regardless of the slot it is in.

Media in device group REVDRIVE is not in the scratch set of pool ATI TAPES.

As per that message the device group called REVDRIVE that you created does not have any tapes in the scratch set. The tapes that can be used are listed above and none of those are in the REVDRIVE group.

You may need to change the media pool configuration so tapes go into the scratch set sooner or just make sure that a tape that can be used is located in one of the slots that has been configured to be part of the REVDRIVE group. That group is comprised of specific slots, make sure a tape in the scratch set is in one of those slots.
