Have you considered using mysqldump or MySQL Administrator to perform backups instead?
Hi jackm1,
as I know from BackupExec 11 it's possible to execute commands before backup starts. It is better to do a mysql dump before starting backup and exclude the directory of the mysql data-directory. I think, that's the most common and fair way.
An alternative is the way over the open file license, which is a cost factor.
Kind regards
Henning
