We often install Acronis Workstation 9.1 on small XP networks; a typical setup has an XP computer using simple file sharing that the customer thinks of as their "server", where shared files are stored, running on a single IDE or SATA drive. So, we add a second internal IDE or SATA drive, and make backup images to that drive. And, with the other XP "workstations", we make images across the network to this second drive in the "server". All of this works fine.
But now I'm about to have to deal with an XP "server" that I'm told has RAID, using four hard drives. That's all the customer knows about it. What I'm trying to determine is whether it makes sense to be running the Acronis Workstation product in this environment. I know that the RAID gives them up-to-the-minute redudancy, but I'd still like to have a way to make an image of the server "drive" each day, keeping several days archive of images. But if I DID run Acronis Workstation in this environment, I'm not so sure I'd have a way of restoring, if needed, since we're dealing with a setup more complex than a simple IDE/SATA drive.
So, I'm hoping someone can provide clarification on whether I should even try to set up Acronis on this XP computer, and if not, then "why", but if so, then how I should proceed--in detail, please. TIA
