software for backup VM - VMWare Sphere 4

Hi, I need to know if any software which enables backup (differential, incremental, etc.) of all the infrastructure and the VMWare virtual machines Sphere 4 between 2 iSCSI NAS storage certified for VMWare. The VMware consolidated backup is enough? Thank you

Hi,

You should take a look at VMotion: http://www.vmware.com/products/vi/vc/vmotion.html
Also consider the latest verson of Symantec BackupExec with VM Agents.

Guyver-IT
Here is additional info on Symantec BackupExec with VM Agents mentioned by Guyver-IT above.

It's great product to backup the VMs for your VMware Virtual Infrastructure.

Please refer to below link for more info.

I'm having excellent results with the esXpress PRO software for VM backup (not free anymore http://www.phdvirtual.com ) and the free tools they offer for infrastructure backup.

4.0 terabytes of VM images, some 35 virtual machines, with about 100 vhds, across 4 Dell2950 hosts and nightly backups take 2 hours.

Saturday FULL backups complete in about 7 hours, and all VMS are running, live and in production the whole time (unlike other solutions)

Latest version also supports ESXi

 RECOMENDED.

===================================================
At the free end, in addition to some of the above tools mentioned, look at Trilead VMExplorer  (http://www.trilead.com/  NOT VMX Explorer which is a completely different useful tool for process and memory management).

This too is being used in production environments.  Its slow, but on systems that dont change often that justify a weekly backup its pretty good, and its free.  Also works on VMware server (non esx) as long as server is installed on a LInux box.  Does NOT do ESXi.  Didnt do Windows hosting VMware server last I looked.

===================================================
Finally all the way down at the I gotta get it done level, use WinSCP to back up the files in /var/vmware (or wherever) after shutting them down.

Also free, install a copy of Putty at the same time.
Just looked at the Trilead website.  They now support more platforms, including ESX3i and ESX4i, and maybe Windows hosts.

Its also not as free as I recall anymore ........

vDCR Backup for VMWare http://www.ardeologic.com
works over VCB and vStorage. (Both are VMware's  technologies.)
Also enables "differential, incremental, and full backups" too.
enables backup (differential, incremental, etc.)

Check if it works for you too.
I really hope that you ended up with Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Server virtual Ed. (www.acronis.com / www.acronis.eu) - gives you fullbackup, incrental- and diffrential backup - agentless! And my friend: smooth, rapid instant recovery.
