VCB proxy - free space C: (system)- 24,3 GB, local D: / 248 GB
I do not understand what you mean by "ESX guest"?
We do backup to tape/FSD with enough space - 800GB.
Does vcb proxy save the image temporarily on the systemdisk before writing to tape?
We have had some trouble with some backup jobs. It is concerning backup of virtual servers. The puzzeling thing is that some days it is OK and others NOT.
From Arcserve I get this "help":
Error AE0521
VM Mount operation failed. VM hostname: <VM_name>
Module:
Agent for VMware, Client Agent for Windows
Reason:
" You have entered invalid credentials (user name or password) of VMware ESX Server or VirtualCenter Server while submitting the backup job in the 'Security and Agent Information' dialog.

The ESX guest is the virtualized OS. The ESX host is the server on which ESX is installed.
Yes that is correct. VCB makes a snap copy of the guest. It looks like VCB is storing your data here "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Consolidated Backup Framework".
When you configured the vcb script, did you pay attention to where the data is to be stored? If so, what do you have set?
Can you post the contents of your VCB scripts?
It is a necessity to have free space to temporarily store the data.
I would suggest you move this to your D:\ drive or buy a cheap 1TB usb drive to store this VCB data.
Lastly, only make a vcb backup of the boot partition of your guest. Use the Arcserve agent to backup data in other partitions you may have.
We moved the temp to D as you adviced, but stil have problems (we do not know if the last problem has been solved).
A little more information - we have just changed backup-robot and these problems started after that. We were and are using Arcserve. Only the HW has changed.
The new problem since wednesday is that we have not had any vm-backups without error-messages. When we run ARCserve VMware Configuration Tool we get the error: Failed to get data from Server. We did not get this earlier.
Ideas? More info? Logs?? (can you tell which one you want?)
Thank you for the help!
This may also be of interest to you. If you have a maintenance agreement this gets you to ArcServe v12 and these features

How much free space do you have on the VCB proxy?
In total, how much space in total, is being consumed by you ESX guests?
If the total space consumed by your ESX guests out numbers the total free space on your VCB proxy, you will not be able to backup.
Please try testing the VCB script for ArcServe with a single guest first.
