Thank you very much for the suggestion. I had tried this in the past when I previously encountered the problem and found that although it no longer needs the ~SCTEMP.TMP file as it now writes the actual file direct to the target folder, it is the actual file that it now can't copy and therefore comes up with a similar error message.
There's something that doesn't allow the backup program to access the target folder, even though the user does have administrator priviledges and can read/access/write to both the source and target folders. I am tending to suspect this is something to do with Vista security and the whole business of User Account Control (UAC). I will be back in the office tomorrow so I can experiment some more and update my findings. Would be grateful if anyone else has experienced similar issues.
