Browse All TopicsI have a Win2k3 box running TSM 5.3 (Virtual VM Machine) which continues to get the following error message:
ANS1468E Backing up Automated System Recovery (ASR)
files failed. No files will be backed up.
I have tried deleted the adsm.sys directory, restarting the services, and rerunning the job with no success. No other backup software is installed (i.e. Veritas NBU) Has anyone else run into this issue?

See http://www-1.ibm.com/suppo rt/docview .wss?uid=s wg21260474 - not sure you use Veritas volume Manager though. That article also mentions: http://support.microsoft.c om/kb/8994 04 - is your server a cluster node? Consider upgrading to SP2 - there are reports this fixes the issue (see http://adsm.org/forum/show thread.php ?t=11673)
Does an NTBackup System State backup on that server work?
Any VSS errors in the event logs at the time of the failure?
Have a look at the folder c:\windows\repair. I've had ASR issues in the past where asr.sif in that directory had become a read-only file. Clearing that read-only flag solved the problem.
