Tivoli software causing lockouts

Tags: Tivoli
I have a users accout who keeps getting locked out. I was able to locate the computer passing the bad credentials. It seems everytime tivoli would start a process it's causing him to lockout. For example, the Tivoli orb process starts and the next log is the one listed below. I stopped the Tivoli service for a few days and lockouts stopped. I renabled it and sure enough they persisted. I reinstalled tivoli on the machine to no avail. This is happening on multiple boxes. Has anyone seen this with Tivoli?

Not specifically with Tivoli, but I have seen the situation. My guess is that this started shortly after the user changed their password.  Somewhere when the Tivoli process was setup it was configured to use a static user-id and password and it is still using it.

The hard part is figuring out were Tivoli stored this.

To respond to your next statement, NO.  Uninstalling the product would not necessary have removed where Tivoli is storing the information.  I have uninstalled many products  and reinstalled to attempt to fix problems only to find that the uninstall does not remove all registry entries or does not delete all the files associated with the product.

Now which exact Tivoli product do you have?

Hi,

Check if this TSM orb service is set to run with any given user name. Go to services and check the user who is running this process and if it is set with the user a/c that is getting locked out modify the password for the a/c and restart the service.

qiltjr:
I've searched the registry for the user name and sid. I was able to find his sid associated with the sync manager, but after deleting it the problem still appeared. On a normal PC, after the tivoli orb logon is logged the local administrator account then logs on. However somehow the user replaced the local admin account with his own. There is a local group called tivoli superusers with generally the local admin the only member. For this PC, it had the user name and the local admin account. I removed his account, but the issue is trying to find out how to change the tivoli configuration.

bhanukir7:
All the logons for the services are set for local system and network service.
