I can use the program and system .dll files from the 5.4 version client application (which works fine in most cases with v5.5) to launch a GUI or console to perform most actions; however, the problem come into play when I need to RESTORE SYSTEMSTATE, as this is not a feature of 5.4
It seems I cant launch TSM 5.5 in this environment (or without the full windows). The error I get on dsm and dsmc is The system cannot execute the specified program.
I can still perform an image restore, but I have 5 Gig partitions hard drives on my servers, Im out of space and would like to remove the partitions to utilize the full drive. An image restore will place my brand new fancy hard drives in the same boat.
What does 5.5 need to run that 5.4 doesnt. Im open to any and all recommendations, but Im trying to avoid the WinPE monster. The first step in the ASR prep is Create an ASR recovery diskette, but this is a rack without a disk drive, so the ASR procedure doesnt look like an option either.

At this point, Im going to say that TSM v5.5 with BartPE is not going to happen (not without some code modification on the vendor side). I come to this conclusion because it seems to date NO ONE has been successful in creating a plug-in for v5.5, and even IBM documents WinPE as a preinstall environment (the most recent documentation).
The original plan was to perform a TSM full restore to correct the space requirements, which have become critical; however, the critical space requirement, which I am experiencing have been resolved using Image for Windows (IFW) by Terabyte Unlimited. Unlike TSMs snapshot image, which restores an image that cannot be resized, IFW will restore an image to a drive that is larger (or smaller depending on how much data you had), and in the restore configuration, the size of the restore size can be adjusted as needed.
I know BootitNG will also resize a server 2003 partition, but because these systems are so critical, I wanted to remove the current hard drive and perform a full restore on a new drive, and retain the original hard drive as part of a rollback plan as needed.
