With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Why does this hard drive keep spinning up? Part II

In regards to this post: http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/Windows_Vista/Q_22906161.html, I've replaced the hard drive with a refirbished one from Seagate.  It has been mounted and cloned.  I even bought new SATA and power supply cables for it as well.  It's doing exactly the same thing.

Here's the background.  This is a slave 320 GB Seagate SATA drive.  My primary drive is the same type of drive.  I'm running Vista.  When I'm not using the machine, the slave will spin up then sleep for about a minute or so before spinning up again.  It never stops.  My power options are set to have the HDs sleep after 20 minutes.  There aren't any options in the BIOS for putting the HDs to sleep.

So, to revive this poor horse...any suggestions?
