I'm not an experienced fault-finder, so please treat me gently!
I installed a 200Gb Maxtor hard drive at Christmas as a secondary drive on one of my IDE channels. The primary drive on that channel is my "c:" drive. It has worked fine since installation, and I have put my music collection on it.
Over the last week, my mp3 player (MediaMonkey) has experienced slight stuttering while playing an mp3. This is made worse if I'm browsing (Firefox), and virtually grinds to a halt if I do anythging more intensive like open a rar file. I used to do all of these things previous to the last week with no problem.
Running SiSandra, it suggests that my read speed for the Maxtor drive is around 3MB/s and very steady at that speed. My c: drive runs at around 30MB/s to 45MB/s depending on the track position across the disc.
