The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

BSOD Error After Acronis Image bad pool header

Asked by FASTECHS in Computer Hard Drives, Backup & Restore Software, Windows XP Operating System

Current System States
Dual Core 2ghz
MB: Asus P5L-MX
Raid 1 500gb HD 2 1 WD 1 Seagate Same Stats
4gb of 800mhz ddr2 Memory
XP PRO SP3

I recently ran out of space on a computer XP Pro with an SATA 80gb Raid 1 setup running on an attached PCI Raid Card. Also the raid had critical status saying of the hard drives had failed. It still started and ran with no errors but was extremly slow due to the fact it had less than 1gb of free space left. I went ahead and upgraded the memory from 1gb to 4gb and it ran fine  with no BSODs for the week until I upgraded my Hardrive. This had Mozy Home Unlimted on it but hadnt backed up for awhile as I believe it didnt have enough space for it to crreate its shadow drive.

So I used Acronis True Image to copy the data from the old 80gbs to a new SATA 500gb Raid 1 Setup. That all seemed to work fine and was able to boot up to Windows XP Pro Normally. Since then I have randomly had BSODS with the Bad Pool header Error code 00000019. I have Mozy and Nod32 Antivirus .
I have updated all hardware drivers, Windows Updates. With no resolve. Ive ran 1 pass of Memtest86 and the memory passed, and I also dont think its the memory because there was no errors for that 1 week before upgrading to the new hard drives, but its possible.

I then did some further digging and came accross this article, since mozy does create a shadow drive when backing up, and  I used acronis I tried this.

http://www.geektieguy.com/2009/07/27/recover-from-bad_pool_header-blue-screen-errors-after-upgrading-hard-drive/

I did infact have two drives after showing Hidden Drive in Storage Devices. One was DeviceStorageM and was DeviceStorage[][][][]   that looked werid. So i did what that article said and uninstalled both. Restarted twice and they were not there anymore.  Since then I have had my computer on and restarted a few times and have not recieved a BSOD message as of yet.

Is there anything else you can think of that might be the problem or is that most likely the cause as I have seen a few people now with similar problems, so I am hoping that fixes it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
