Single drives max at 2TB...so I guess you tried to use an array.
XP/Win2003 32 bits is limited by the 2TB limit of the MBR partitionning scheme...and you can not use the GPT partitionning scheme on those 32 bits OS.
You may only use 2TB MBR partitions:
-using the drives in "<usable 2TB" arrays
-using each drives separately
This may although be more efficient for your usage as writing from 1 array while reading from another one will always be faster than copying on the same array.

Windows XP only supports disks up to 2 TB

"Windows XP and the original release of Windows Server 2003 have a limit of 2TB per physical disk, including all partitions."
Check also the section "Windows XP Disk Support"
You have to use Windows XP x64 or Vista or Windows Server 2003 or 2008.
