Bartpe and Dell Dimension 8400

Hello EE,

I am trying to create an image from a Dell Dimension 8400 by using the bartpe application.  Please see what I have installed for this image from the attach file.  I downloaded the Mass storage Drverpack and created the plugin (http://users.telenet.be/jtdoom/basetute/BartPE/OverFlow/DPs_BartPE_HelpFile.htm) as defined from this website.  I also downloaded the dell driver for the 160GB hard drive and put those into the C:\pebuilder3110a\drivers\SCSIAdapter folder.  I boot up with the Bartpe cd that I created and still it does not see the friggin Hard drive.  I just rebuilt this machine and Device manager is working correctly, all drivers were downloaded and installed correctly.

I need some help, i cannot figure out why the Hard disk is not found from the bartpe that I created.  Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated, Thanks!

Suggestion only

Probably because the hard drive is SATA with RAID and the CDROM drive is IDE.  See if the BIOS permits switching the hard drive controller to Legacy or ATAPI.  If it does switch (take note of the settings) and reboot and see if it finds the drive.  If it does get your image, go back into your BIOS and put the hard drive back to SATA.

Also you may just want to download the mass storage driver straight from dell and use that in your PE. Just because you have the mass storage driver pack does not mean that the driver you need is included. The person above me also makes a very valid suggestion, if on the true driver you still cannot see the HD definitely give his suggestion a shot.

Got it!!  I upgraded the BIOS from A03 to A09.  I went into the BIOS as advised and found "DRIVES -> SATA Operation and it was set to "RAID AUTODETECT/AHCI" and I chose "COMBINATION" -> SATA/PATA (Combination Mode) and then booted up into BARTPE. There is no physical SCIS connection, its all SATA connections.  Once in I chose A43 File Management Utility and verified that c drive existed.  Created an image and I was out of there!!  Thanks for everyones help!
