Hi Everyone

Doe you know if it is easy to change the firmware on a seagate drive

Specifically can you change a ST3300007FCV <- EMC / DELL version of 300GB FC drive to ST3300007FC <- Sun version of same drive

You can't change the firmware to run on a Sun box. You can set the EMC box as a storage point for the Sun box.

No - I'm afraid not. The EMC drive is formatted at 520 bytes per sector for a start. Then there is the issue of actually getting firmware, then flashing the drive as it will have to be done external to the array, so you would need a copper FC card and the appropriate harnesses and backplanes to make it all connect. Save yourself the time and trouble, take a deep breath and order the drives you need from Sun - then put the CLARiiON drives back on eBay.
